The Only Difference
Who is advising you, and why should you trust them? That is the question this book asks — and answers — using the ADVICEdge framework: five qualities that separate a trusted advisor from a well-dressed salesperson.
Written for anyone who has ever paid for advice that served the advisor more than it served them. Anchored in real estate, but the framework applies to every advisor relationship — financial, legal, educational.
The ADVICEdge framework
Five questions every advice-buyer should ask
The book builds a framework around five qualities. Use them before you sign anything.
Accountability
Does your advisor carry personal responsibility for the outcome? Or do they disappear once the commission is paid?
Data
Is the advice grounded in verifiable numbers, or in projections supplied by the developer?
Verifiability
Can you independently check what you are being told? Good advisors welcome the question.
Independence
Who pays your advisor? If the developer does, they are not your advisor — they are the developer's salesperson.
Context
Does the advice fit your situation — your income, timeline, risk tolerance — or is it a generic recommendation dressed up for you?
